Les Violons du Roy - Classics for strings

Les Violons du Roy present three of the most famous works for string orchestra

Les Violons du Roy present their first orchestral concert at Printemps de la musique with their 14 permanent musicians. The concert, presented without a conductor, features three works from the most famous repertoire for string orchestra.

Les Violons du Roy

Founded in 1984 by conductor Bernard Labadie and now under the musical direction of Jonathan Cohen, Les Violons du Roy are an ensemble of at least fifteen musicians dedicated to the chamber orchestra repertoire, with a stylistic approach that is as accurate as possible for each period. Although the ensemble plays on modern instruments, its involvement with the Baroque and Classical repertoires is strongly influenced by contemporary movements to revive the interpretation of 17th and 18th century music, for which the musicians use copies of period bows. Les Violons du Roy also regularly explore the repertoire of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Cathedral of the Holy Trinity

The musical side of the cathedral is not limited to the presence of music during religious celebrations. Throughout the year, the cathedral plays host to numerous concerts of chamber music, opera, lyric music and many other musical genres. With its all-wood construction, the cathedral boasts one of the best acoustics, making it an exceptional venue for music lovers.
